I’ve started a new project here at home. I am putting together a collection of my very favorite recipes, the ones I return to again and again. Of course, these tend to be the simplest and most classic recipes, those recipes that are most adaptable to the ingredients that are in season and available when I want to make them.
I am trying to organize these recipes around the events I want to make them for, rather than by course or ingredient. For instance, there are those recipes that I like to make for summer weekend cookouts and others that I save for holiday dinners. Some recipes are perfect for Sunday morning breakfasts; others are quick and easy weeknight fare.
While I tend to take the old-fashioned route when it comes to my own recipes — I print them out and store them in a big notebook on my kitchen counter — I will try to post them here to the blog as well. I really appreciate the comments I get suggesting variations or helpful tips on the recipes I post. While I tend to make these recipes again and again, I notice that I don’t usually make them the same way twice. Instead, I’m always trying something new with them. That’s what keeps things interesting.
I’ll start posting my keeper recipes over the next few weeks. I hope you enjoy them.
