It is the time of year when we must all engage in making lists of the best of everything. This is a law or something, but fortunately, it’s fun too. (If you love “year in review” lists, you’d probably better hop on over here.) So in looking back on the past year, here are my top 10 favorite recipes, one in each major dish category, that I made and posted. I hope you’ll find some inspiration for eating in the coming year from this list.
Dip: Guacamole (September) — I can always rely on this tried-and-true recipe.
Starter: Spanish Potato Tortilla (February) — Appropriate for breakfast, dinner or the cocktail hour, this is an extremely yummy egg dish.
Salad: Carrot & Avocado Salad (April) — This was a very surprising salad; surprisingly good, that is.
Soup: French Onion Soup (May) — I have finally perfected an all-time favorite.
Entree: Chicken & Biscuits (January) — This is the epitome of comfort food, and a great dinner for a cold winter’s night.
Bread: Best Buttermilk Biscuits (March) — Honestly, these are the best biscuits I have ever made.
Vegetable: Pan-braised Carrots with Orange (November) — So simple, but so good.
Side: French Potato Salad (June) — Throw away your other potato salad recipes; this is the epitome.
Beverage: Minty Green Tea Iced Tea (July) — I couldn’t stop drinking this last summer.
Dessert: Strawberry-Red Wine Sorbet (February) — Elegant and delicious, a great dessert for those of us who don’t make dessert all that often.
